I’m on Facebook

image

If you know me personally, you would know that this is shocking news. I have signed up for Facebook twice in my life, and each time, it lasted for probably no more than 2 weeks. This was when Facebook was still relatively new, at least in my circle. I just couldn’t keep up with it.

When I started this blog, I knew it was a question I would have to tackle. Should I open a Facebook account (and other social media)?

I know many of us have a love-hate thing with social media. And I definitely see how it can have negative effects. Being on social media doesn’t necessarily make you more social in face-to-face interactions. In fact, it can often have the opposite effect. Picture a room full of people, where no one is talking to each other but they seem to be having more engaging conversations with their devices.

But I also know people, who have used it in a good way, connecting with faraway loved ones or using it as a means to encourage others.

We just have to be balanced.

I decided to set up a Facebook page for this blog as a way to reach out to my readers. I know that it can provide ways for us to interact with one another that is limited by my blog. In addition to posts links, I also plan to include some tidbits of the happenings in my world (not that you’re dying to know about it) as well as other things that I think may be of interest to you. I hope you can stop by!

Less to More Facebook Page

P.S. I also signed up for a Pinterest account. It’s actually something I’ve been wanting to do as a way to organize all the sites (mostly recipes) that I’ve bookmarked. It does make it visually easier to find things. Anyway, I’ve also included some past blog posts on Pinterest, if that makes it easier for you to find things.

Happy Friday, everyone!

  1. I don’t have facebook anymore, but I would be interested to see if you like it this go around. I do have Pinterest, and I LOVE how it keeps my stuff all organized.

    1. I didn’t set up a personal FB (no friend requests, etc.) … I think that’s what got overwhelming for me the first and second attempt at opening a FB account. I decided to just create a page just for my blog, which seems more manageable and more purposeful for me. The blog FB page is not connected to your personal profile … but you have to remember to switch your name to your blog name whenever you’re commenting and interacting with other Facebookers. Here’s a helpful article that I found on it.

    2. Sorry, let me clarify … the FB blog fan page can be set up from your personal FB, but it will not be linked to your personal FB that contains your name, etc. If you comment on other FB pages as your blog name, others won’t see your personal info. You just have to always make sure you are commenting as your Blog name because sometimes it switches to your personal name for some unknown reason. Hope this helps, Cat!

  2. I don’t have an FB blog page, hehe. I’m still thinking of creating one but not now. I only have a personal page and I had it since college. Love-hate relationship, that’s so true! Balance really is the key. BTW, I already liked your FB page and followed you on Pinterest. 🙂
