What Are You Thinking?

I read somewhere that a person thinks anywhere from around 12,000 to 50,000 thoughts per day. How many of those thoughts are useful? Productive? Beneficial? Worthwhile?

If we are commanded to take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ, the implication is that many of our thoughts, unchecked, are not profitable. I would imagine that a significant percentage of that 50,000 thoughts per day are the kind we have to proactively seize and cast away.

Do you need some guidelines on what to allow your mind to dwell on?

“Whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.”
~ Philippians 4:8

And guess what? Someone is thinking a lot about you too!

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.”
~ Psalm139:17-18

  1. It is so, so important that we truly live that verse. What an amazing standard!! And when we DO?! Blessing upon blessing! 😀
